BLS for Healthcare Providers

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of an AED on adults and children, and relief of airway obstruction in responsive and non-responsive victims.

The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients both in and out of the hospital setting.

Target audience: Medical Professionals; doctors, nurses, EMTs, life guards, nurse’s aides and assistants. A card will be issued.

Length of course: 4-6 hours depending on the number of students in the class and their experience.

Cost: $50, free to people who live or work in Gates or Ogden. Please bring proof of residency or employment to the class.

Hope Hall CPR

Gates Ambulance had the pleasure of teaching the Heartsaver version of CPR to the students of Hope Hall

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED
Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use and can include infant and child CPR if the students live or work in a setting where children are present.

Target audience: community members who need a card issued. Girl and Boy Scout leaders, daycare workers, people who need a general First Aid class. A card will be issued.

Length of course: 4-8 hours depending on the number of students in the class and their experience.  Most sessions do not include a lunch break, due to this, we recommend a small quiet snack.

Cost: $75, free to people who live or work in Gates or Ogden. Please bring proof of residency or employment to the class.

Heartsaver CPR and AED
Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking.Child AED and infant/child CPR may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children are present. Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking in the responsive victim.

Target audience: community members who need a card issued. Girl and Boy Scout leaders, daycare workers, people who need a general CPR class. The class can be targeted to the audience, and can include Adult and/or Child and/or Infant CPR. A card will be issued.

Length of course: 4 hours or less depending on what parts of the class are desired.

Cost: $45, free to people who live or work in Gates or Ogden. Please bring proof of residency or employment to the class.

Family and Friends CPR
Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job.

Target audience: community members who are taking the class out of interest or a desire to learn the skill.

Length of course: 2 hours

Cost: free to everyone

Own a business? We can come to you!
Heartsaver CPR and First Aid will be $100 per student.
CPR for the Healthcare provider will be $50 per student.
We do require a audio/visual device to present the needed material to the class. We also require an open space to preform the hands on portion of the class.

Classes Specific to the EMS community
Gates Ambulance offers specific classes for EMTs which are also listed on this calendar.

Daycare/Child Care Employees
Prior to enrolling in a CPR class please consult the Child Care Council if your certification is required for a Child Care/Daycare. The current American Heart Association class we are teaching covers adult, child and infant CPR/AED with adult first aid. In order to improve the service to our community we will be offering an AHA pediatric first aid course that should be available in late August of 2016.
