We offer BLS, Heartsaver, and Friends and Family CPR classes, and K-12 Heartsaver CPR and first aid courses.

BLS for Healthcare Providers This course is an instructor-led practice-while-you-watch format. The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients both in and out of the hospital setting. 

 You will learn the following skills: 

  • One and two-person CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Ventilation with a pocket mask and a bag-mask device
  • AED use 
  • Relief of airway obstruction in responsive and non-responsive victims

Target audience: Medical Professionals: doctors, nurses, nursing students, nurse’s aides, and assistants, EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters

Cost: $55 for non residents. $30 for people who live or work in Gates, Spencerport or Ogden. 

Please bring proof of residency or employment to the class and a copy of your payment receipt.
The card issued is valid for 2 years.
Length of course: 3-4 hours

Hope Hall CPR

Gates Ambulance had the pleasure of teaching the Heartsaver version of CPR to the students of Hope Hall

Heartsaver CPR and AED This course is a video-based, instructor-led course with hands-on practice. This course is designed for the general public. 

You will learn the following skills: 

  • Single-rescuer CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Ventilation with a pocket mask
  • AED use
  • Relief of airway obstruction in responsive and non-responsive victims.

**The course is not for healthcare providers**

Target audience: Scout leaders, daycare workers, lifeguards, security guards, or people who need a general CPR class.

Cost: $55 for non-residents, $30 to people who live or work in Gates, Spencerport or Ogden. 

Please bring proof of residency or employment to the class and a copy of your payment receipt 
The card issued is valid for 2 years.
Length of course: 3-4 hours

*****Daycare/Child Care Employees*****
Prior to enrolling in a CPR class please consult the "Child Care Council" to confirm what certification is required for your Child Care/Daycare center. 
 
Heartsaver CPR/AED  with first aid  This course is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrive.

You will learn the following first aid skills:

  • First aid basics including scene safety, finding the problem and calling for help.
  • Medical emergencies for example Stroke, breathing problems, allergic reactions.
  • Injuries bleeding control, broken bones, burns
  • Environmental emergencies for example; bites, stings, and temperature-related and poison emergencies
  • Heartsaver CPR and AED as listed in the section above 

Target audience: Scout leaders, daycare workers, lifeguards, security guards

Cost: $150 for non-residents, $55 for people who live or work in Gates, Spencerport or Ogden.

The card issued is valid for 2 years.
Length of course: 4-6 hours. Most sessions do not include a lunch break, due to this, we recommend a small quiet snack.

Family and Friends CPR

Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. 

Target audience: community members who are taking the class out of interest or a desire to learn the skill.

Length of course: 2 hours

Cost: Free to the community

K-12 Heartsaver CPR/AED and K-12 CPR/AED with First-Aid

The K-12 Heartsaver courses have the same format and information as listed in the individual class descriptions above.
The AHA created this card to provide a cost-effective way to train the next generation of lifesavers in the school system. The only differences are the look of the cards and lower card prices.

Target audience: Faculty (teachers and coaches), staff (employees of school/school system), and students. 
*This course is not for Nurses and other medical professionals. They will need BLS for healthcare providers.

What you will need at your location

  • Onsite audio/visual equipment to present the needed material to the class. There must be a minimum of a TV/DVD player with sound or computer/laptop with a projector and sound and WIFI/internet
  • We require an open space to perform the hands-on portion of the class
  • There is a 4 person minimun per class, but maximum of 7 students to maintain social distancing.
  • There is a $150.00 off-site set up fee for all classes, both residents and non-residents.
