Do you have what it takes to serve your community?

Volunteering with GVAS brings a rewarding challenge, a learning opportunity, good hands-on experience for other healthcare professions (including doctor or nurse), a chance to make a difference in the lives of others, and an opportunity to give back to your community.

Base Attendant // Dispatcher

Base Attendant’s are the face of our agency, as well as the voice that the community will hear and remember. As a Base Attendant, you will become an essential part of our day to day operation, by assisting crews with interfacing with the 911’s call logging system, answering and relaying phone calls to the appropriate department, as well as being the first person to assist other members of the community whenever they visit our station.

Requirements

  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate in an effective, efficient, and polite manner with members of the community
  • Requires continued certification in Responding to Emergencies (RTE), and a valid CPR card.

First Medic (Emergency Medical Technician – Basic)

By becoming an EMT, you can take a bold first step in becoming a helping hand for our community. Volunteer EMT’s are able to help take care of the sick and injured when they need it the most. By becoming a caregiver, you can gain knowledge and experience that is unobtainable anywhere else, and unique to the healthcare field. Become the other side of 911, and respond to every different kind of emergencies, from Strokes to Falls, Car Accidents to Heart Attacks! With our regular training and clearing process, we can make sure that when the time comes that you are called, you are ready.

While a rare breed, volunteer paramedics are ready and willing to help at a moments notice. Whether it be to keep up skills, or to try somewhere new, we are always happy to bring on Paramedics who wish to serve the community with us.
